Savi’s Workshop, Is it worth it?

If you are a Star Wars fan like Allen and I are, correction Allen is a super fan, then building a custom lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop in Hollywood Studios is a dream come true. When we visited in 2020 (pre covid) Allen, bought a hilt and a blade but did not have the entire experience of Savi’s Workshop and getting a custom lightsaber. Our visit in 2023 it was a must for him.

To build your own lightsaber you have to first have park reservations at Hollywood Studios and second you must make a reservation on your Disney World app. When you enter your app you will search Savi’s Workshop and it will pull it up. From here you will make your reservation based on the day and time that you would like.

They ask that you arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before your reservation time. You don’t want to be there earlier than that because the group before you may not be entirely out of the way and you will not be able to enter yet. Once you have arrived you will have to present your reservation confirmation, photo id and your credit card as you have to pay prior to your experience. The starting price is $249.99 plus tax.

Before you enter Savi’s workshop you will pick one of the 4 hilt themes (Peace and Justice, Power and Control, Elemental and Nature or Protection and Defense). Allen chose Protection and Defense. After you will receive a pin to identify your selection. This pin is yours to keep and wear with pride! You then will enter the workshop and you can bring one guest inside with you. We had Tripp with us so they allowed me to carry him in as well! From here you select the heart of your lightsaber, the cyber crystal. You will choose from red, blue, green or violet. Once you have chosen your heart, Allen chose violet, then you will be presented with the parts to assemble your hilt based on your theme and your pin.

After Allen had chosen his parts he inserted his cyber crystal into his hilt!

Each box includes, 1 hilt, 4 sleeves (pick 2), 2 emitters (pick 1), 2 pommel caps (pick 1), 2 sets of activation plates and switches (pick 1 set). Once you pick your parts the unused parts will be taken away as they are not included in your package. At the final stage the Gatherers will connect your hilt to a 31” lightsaber blade.

At this point you have entered this secret workshop. And you are instructed to keep it secret. Building this lightsaber is a privilege and an honor and you do not want this information to fall into the wrong hands. As you can see in the picture above everyone has been presented their lightsabers now it is time to accept your responsibilities as the new owner of your lightsaber and to continue into the galaxy doing good for the force.

This experience was so special. You feel as though you are about to embark on an exciting adventure when you leave this workshop. You have entered this secret area to become part of a special group of people and it really made Allen’s experience so magical that day! When you leave you will also be given a carry bag to keep your lightsaber safe in your travels. This is an expensive experience but it is definitely worth every cent! It will definitely be an experience you do not forget and it will absolutely make your travels that day anything but regular!
